Our Team
Karl started his insurance career in the 1980s with Sun Alliance, working in the North East and moving to Guernsey as Sun Alliance CI Manager in 1994.
He moved into insurance broking and captive management with Wilde & CO in 1997. Subsequently, he moved to the Heritage Group where he headed up both the Guernsey and UK insurance broking entities of the Group.
Hanois Insurance Brokers has very much been at the forefront of both Karl and Kirstie’s minds in recent years; a return to the core ethos of what we do best, being specialists and treating clients as they would expect and deserve to be treated.
Outside of work Karl enjoys his leisure time, hacking around the golf course and looking after his dogs (yes, four of them!).

Kirstie was born in Guernsey and has lived here all her life, married with a young adult son. Anyone who knows her well, knows she loves to chat, socialise and eat out and perhaps, partake in a wine or two.
She started her insurance career as an office junior in captive insurance management, working at International Risk Management, followed by eight years at Willis Captive Management. She had a short period where she wasn’t sure office work was for her and worked as a dental nurse for 18 months. Having realised she preferred office work, she joined Pentagon Insurance, which became Heritage Insurance Brokers.
Kirstie progressed within Heritage from Claims Co-Ordinator to General Insurance Manager, Client Relationship Manager and Assistant Director. Karl and Kirstie have worked together since 2002 and have a great working relationship; they have considered a new company together for a few years and they felt the time was right to start Hanois Insurance Brokers and this was formed in 2023, receiving a GFSC licence in February 2024 and commenced trading in March 2024.

James was born in Guernsey and has lived in the island for most of his life. He began his insurance career in 2013 and has since enjoyed undertaking a variety of positions including broking, underwriting and business development roles with various local firms. James worked with Karl and Kirstie at Heritage Insurance Brokers progressing from Senior Commercial Broker to Business Development Manager, prior to the company’s acquisition in 2022.
James is an Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute and having undertaken a number of professional qualifications, attained ‘Chartered Insurance Broker’ status in 2024. Over the last 12 years he has built an in depth understanding of the General Insurance market with particular emphasis on the Commercial Insurance sector, dealing with a wide variety of clients from Financial Services businesses and Property Managers to Contractors, Farms, Motor Traders and (almost!) everything in between.
Outside of work, James enjoys spending time with his family and taking long walks with his (slightly mad) Labrador, Floyd, followed by a stop at a good pub, of course. He has been involved with the local music scene since the age of 15 playing in several bands and may be partial to the odd Land Rover and Tractor too.

Sara was born and raised in Guernsey and began working within the insurance industry in 2010. Since then, she has undertaken a variety of roles such as Broker, Senior Broker and Manager within personal lines and commercial teams, also assisting with claims handling. Sara previously worked within the Heritage team for a period of 6 and a half years prior to its acquisition in 2022 and is now very pleased to be back working with Karl, Kirstie, James and Sam with whom she worked closely with previously and has very good working relationships.
Outside of work Sara is a rather active person who tends to be involved with a variety of running and other sporting events, including being part of a team in the local darts league. Whilst Sara isn’t involved in these activities, she will often be found out walking on the beaches or cliffs with her dog, Ziggy, who is Hanois’ bonus ‘wellbeing manager’ and visits the office from time to time!

Sam joined the Insurance Industry 16 years ago at Heritage Insurance as a receptionist and after a few years moved into the broking team. Having worked with Karl and Kirstie at Heritage for many years she was thrilled to get the opportunity to join them when Hanois formed in 2024.
As part of the administration team, Sam enjoys supporting both our clients and colleagues and helping to keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes. Sam is organised, approachable and takes pride in providing efficient, friendly service and ensuring every task is completed to a high standard.
Sam was born in Guernsey and has lived here all her life. Outside of work she is kept busy by her husband their three daughters, which means life is always eventful and never quiet, whether its managing policies or school pickups she handles it with calm, good humour, multitasking skills and an ‘occasional’ glass of wine!

Megan was born and raised here is Guernsey, where she lives with her partner and their son. Megan joined Hanois in September 2025 and although she is new to the profession, I’m thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to learn and develop, currently preparing to take the insurance exams and embracing every challenge as it comes.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, exploring the island on coastal walks or finding new places to eat. I value making memories with family and friends and having a healthy work / home life balance.

Sarah relocated to Guernsey from the Southeast of England in March 2020 with her family at the height of the lockdown. The move allowed her transition from raising her young family to starting a career in an office environment. She initially joined a local underwriting agency through which she managed the accounts for Heritage Insurance Brokers, and which is where she first met Karl, Kirstie and James.
Sarah then moved into insurance broking with a local broker where she began her Chartered Insurance Institute qualifications, working towards becoming fully qualified. Here, Sarah built a sound understanding of client requirements in an insurance environment.
In April 2024, Sarah joined Hanois within the broking and accounts team, her prior relationship with Karl and Kirstie helping to facilitate this transition, combining her strengths in both broking and accounts. Sarah now helps to manage the Hanois accounts function in respect of internal accounts and payments from insurers, introducers and our clients.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her family and their dog, Harry, watching the local rugby team play (becoming a keen Guernsey Raiders fan along the way!) and continuing her studies.
